Dr. Bonnie Oppenheimer, Professor of Mathematics and Chair of the Department of Sciences and Mathematics at Mississippi University for Women, serves in the role of sh’lichat tzibbur (lay leader) for Congregation B’nai Israel. Bonnie first joined this synagogue in 1988, and has served as its president and as the president of its Sisterhood. She was the Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ) District 15 President in 2004-6, and served on the International Board for WRJ. She received her two Had’rachah trainings at the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) Olin Sang Ruby Union Institute (OSRUI) in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, finishing in 2016. The siddur we use for services is Mishkan T’filah.
